Application is invited to apply for the University of Passau Scholarship In Germany 2025. All international students who want to undertake Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD highly encouraged to apply for scholarships.
The Donation Barometer project has been running since the winter semester 2023–24 thanks to financial support from the association “Friends of the University”: for every questionnaire completed by new students, students completing their studies, and graduates, the association donates two euros to scholarships for students facing financial hardship. Students can obtain a one-off stipend of up to 300 euros from these funds.
What is the Donation Barometer Project?
The Donation Barometer initiative, supported by the generous contributions of the “Friends of the University” association, was launched in the Winter Semester of 2023-24. For every completed questionnaire from incoming, graduating, and alumni students, the association donates €2 to a fund that aids financially challenged students. This fund offers one-time stipends of up to €300.

Who is eligible?
Students enrolled at the University of Passau in their second semester or higher who receive loans or grants under the German law on student loans and grants (BAföG)
The net income of the person(s) obliged to provide for the student’s maintenance must not exceed twice the allowance laid down in BAföG [German content]
- Your gross annual income will not affect the stipend if it is below the following threshold amounts:
- for applicants: 15,000 euros
- and for every additional dependent child: 8,000 euros

Application documents
An application can only be submitted online. You should enclose the following documents:
- a tabular CV with a photograph
- a certificate of enrolment for the current semester
- an up-to-date extract from the Campus Portal (transcript, preliminary examination certificate, bachelor’s degree certificate, proof of language skills)
- proof of need (e.g. BAföG notice)
Please note that we only consider complete online applications. International students should apply using the form for the emergency scholarship.
Scholarships Coverage
To get BAföG, University of Passau students (from their second semester) and their families must have limited income. The parents’ or guardians’ income cannot be too high. Also, the student’s yearly income should be under €15,000. This amount goes up by €8,000 for each child the student supports.
