Postgraduate Degree

A postgraduate program often requires an undergraduate degree, such as a bachelor’s program, though it may recognize relevant job experience in some circumstances. Postgraduate school is a terrific opportunity to advance your job or perhaps qualify for a new profession while improving your knowledge and skills.

Scholarships and Fees

Notre Dame University can help with your continued professional growth by providing a variety of postgraduate study scholarships and Alumni Advantage discounts. For both prospective and present postgraduate students, we provide a variety of scholarships.

Admission Requirements

You are a person, not a number to us at Notre Dame.

We take your unique experience, interests, and contributions into account as part of our admissions process, in addition to considering your academic standing. Find your way to Notre Dame by choosing your study field.

At Notre Dame, we want everyone to be able to pursue higher education. We provide many access points to the University as a result. Please be aware that the demand for a certain degree and the number of openings in a given year will determine admittance into the degree.

Minimum Age Requirements

At the time of enrollment at Notre Dame, domestic students must be 17 years of age or older or have finished Year 12 (or an equivalent). You must be 18 years old to enroll at Notre Dame if you are an international student who needs a visa to study in Australia. If a case-by-case exception to the minimum age requirement is granted, enrollment limits may be imposed.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

All applicants, domestic and foreign, must meet the University of Notre Dame Australia’s basic academic standards and English language competency criteria. This guarantees that applicants are proficient enough in the English language to engage in their chosen program successfully and produce the desired program objectives.

Academic Requirements

The Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP) accepts applications from WACE students who do not have an ATAR. Direct entry into undergraduate degrees is not available to candidates who have finished Steiner, Montessori, or homeschooling curricula.

Higher Education

Applicants with prior higher education experience (excluding route programs) must have completed a minimum of six months of study and passed at least two subjects to be eligible for admission to Notre Dame. Some fields require additional requirements. Refer to the chart below for the necessary minimum study duration and subject requirements for various Notre Dame disciplines.

We may consider your previous academic performance, including the number of failed subjects and any periods of exclusion when determining eligibility. Applicants who have undertaken higher education studies in a relevant field to their undergraduate degree may be eligible for Advanced Standing (Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit Transfer).

Vocational Education and Training (VET) study

The majority of Notre Dame’s undergraduate degrees accept VET credentials. Students frequently need at least a Certificate IV or Diploma to be admitted to a degree program. Please refer to the table below for more information on required VET coursework and particular disciplines.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

In order to be admitted to a variety of degrees at Notre Dame, candidates who do not meet the entry requirements must pass the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT). Both the written English and multiple-choice portions must be finished by applicants. For information on the minimum scores needed to enter a particular discipline, please see the table below. Please be aware that a STAT is not a valid entry route for physiotherapy degrees.

Inherent Requirements

The Program Requirements list certain inherent requirements for some programs. On appropriate program websites, you can find links to the program requirements.

Discipline-Specific Entry Requirements

There are additional entrance criteria for a few degrees. They typically include these in their accreditation requirements.

A personal statement outlining the applicant’s goals and demonstrating their suitability to study counseling in accordance with accreditation requirements (such as self-awareness, the ability to relate to others, and an understanding of ethical behavior) is required for admission to the Bachelor of Counseling. See additional details about this criterion.

A statement of intent is a requirement for all first-teacher education program applicants. This evaluates nonacademic skills necessary for success in the teaching field. A nationwide prerequisite for entry into teacher education is an assessment of non-academic ability. See additional details about this criterion.

Students must also meet the English language requirements stipulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), in addition to the University’s English language competence standards for admission to Notre Dame. This guarantees that students are qualified to register as nurses or midwives once their studies are complete. Please read the Nursing English Language Requirements for further details.
